Choosing the right airer for you can be challenging as Howards Storage World is an Airer specialist, so there are lots of options to choose from. So, to make it a little easier, we have pulled together a review team to tell you what they think about these airers from their own unique perspective.

Meet the Review Team

Left: Chris Carroll runs The Life Creative Blog (www.thelifecreativeblog.com) and he lives in an apartment. As a designer, he is very interested in the form and function of these airers

Centre: Sarah Cottman is a professional organiser and a real mover & shaker in the Australian and international organising world. She has a professional organising business called Heavenly Order (www.horder.com.au) so she was looking at our airers not only from a personal point of view as she has a busy family – but also from a professional view point as she sees many different needs in people’s homes, as she helps them be better organised.

Right: Sonia Stackhouse is a very busy mother to three boys and she is now a full time blogger sharing her life experiences both positive, negative and everything in between. (www.lifeloveandhiccups.blogspot.com) With an exceptionally busy life, Sonia has a keen eye for efficiency and was looking for durability in her quest for the perfect airer.

We gathered all three in our catalogue studio to review the features and benefits of some of our favourite airers within the Howards range.

This is what they discovered:

What should someone consider when choosing an airer?

“When purchasing an airer it’s really important that you ask yourself, who is going to use it? If it’s for more than one person, it’s important to choose a larger airer; probably the two single most important features to consider are ease of set up and stability.”

“For a big family, go for something that’s easy to set up; the Howards 42 Rail Airer is fantastic. You can actually collapse it on one side so it sits up against the wall or have it all up for maximum capacity. If you’re in a smaller space, the in-shower Drying Tower has caught my eye. There’s a lot of thought that’s gone into the size and detail of that particular airer. Great idea.”

You’ve told us your professional opinion and what features and benefits might suit your clients but what airer would you personally choose?

“Personally I’d take the big one home; we have a large family and while it’s an airer it also provides a place to hang your ironing too. It folds away easily and I can choose to use half of it or the whole thing.”

Are there any other airers that have stood out to you and why?

“There’s an airer that I really like. There’s a lot of thought that’s gone into the design of it. You can actually get a wheel chair right the way around it. It’s a 28 Rail Airer, an A-frame and it’s exclusive to Howards. It’s absolutely brilliant. It’s sturdy and it’s easy to use.”

From a form meets function perspective, what airer gets your tick of approval?

“I’m all about the Leifheit Pegasus Deluxe. Why I like it is that’s its compact and portable and it’s folds away easily. What’s more, it’s low so if you live in an apartment and have a balcony where things aren’t meant to be seen, it’s out of public eye.”

What are its best features?

“What I love so much about this airer is that it has a mesh dryer on top. Coming into winter it’s a really great feature because it allows you to dry your delicates without them getting creased; it also has some great clip on coat hangers so you can dry business shirts without creasing them and they won’t blow away.”

What do you think about Howards range of airers as a whole?

“What I love about the range is it feels like there’s something for everybody. Some people have kids, others live in apartments, some people have a mountain of washing to do; there’s something to suit everyone. It’s really great that form meets function in these pieces. So they look fantastic and they perform the task as well. I think Howards are the airer experts and the reason I say that is because there’s such a wide range of airers to choose from. Whatever your laundry needs you can go in-store and speak to one of the specialists there and find an airer that suits your needs.”

20 Rail Stainless Steel Airer with Mesh Peg Bag

“Makes drying flat an actual option rather than just an instruction on the label!”
– Sonia Stackhouse, Life Love and Hiccups

– Sarah Cottman, Heavenly Order

28 Rail Stainless Steel A Frame Airer

“The thought that’s gone into this airer is marvelous. You can actually get a wheelchair right the way around this. It’s easy to set up, it’s an A-frame, it’s sturdy and it’s easy to use.”

“A fabulous space saver. Very clever!”
– Sonia Stackhouse, Life Love and Hiccups

“I have so many clients that could use this. Its so space saving, it’s a really great idea.”
– Sarah Cottman, Heavenly Order

Artweger Ruckzuck Airer

What I love about it is that it attaches to the wall, it’s solid, you can actually leave it up in the laundry, the assembly of it is just so easy and the fact that it’s hanging up above your head means that its out of the way. I really like it.” – Sarah Cottman, Heavenly Order

Garment Dryer

“Love this! Where we often hang items on a hanger to dry this is not going to pull down, especially woolen garments, and actually mis-shape your jumpers and cardigans.”
– Sarah Cottman, Heavenly Order

Capri 10 Rung Clothes Dryer

“So much thought has gone into these airers. The fact that this one sits in the bath is a great idea and the bath is already a wet area so to be hanging up delicates that may drip, great idea, it’ll just drain away.”
– Sarah Cottman, Heavenly Order
