Christmas Planning Tasks

  • WEEK 1 NOVEMBER 4TH

    Populate your calendar with the following week-by-week Christmas Planning tasks.

    Start flicking through magazines and scrapbook any inspirational images, recipes or festive decorations you’d like to incorporate this year.

    Write a list of people you need to give gifts to and allocate gift idea and spend for each.

  • WEEK 2 NOVEMBER 11TH

    Baking gifts this year? Purchase cookie cutters and other baking essentials you will need.

    Ensure you have enough gift-wrap, tape, ribbons and other decorative adornments.

    Get crafty with the kids help and create cards, decorations and other fun Christmas ideas.

    Pull together your favourite Christmas baking recipes.

    Tip: Baked gifts are great for teachers, coaches & baby sitters. Display them in a beautiful jar they can keep!

  • WEEK 3 NOVEMBER 18TH

    Organise your guest room.

    – make sure you have sufficient pillows & blankets.

    Ensure your bathroom is guest-ready.

    – stock up on toilet paper & soap.

    Write a meal plan for pre-prepared meals (great for unexpected visitors or if you’re having guests stay).

    Make and freeze your pre-prepared meals.

  • WEEK 4 NOVEMBER 25TH

    Have the kids write their Dear Santa letter (so Santa’s elves can get underway).

    Declutter the kid’s current toys (to make way for new ones!).

    Distribute pre-loved toys to charity.

    Dispose of toys that are broken or have missing parts.

    Create space in the garage or backyard for new “big ticket” items like trampolines, sandpits & bikes.

  • WEEK 5 DECEMBER 2ND

    Check your Christmas gifts list and short list gifts still to purchase.

    Bake your Christmas shortbread biscuits/pudding gifts.

    Pull out your Christmas decorations and dress your home (house lights and all!)

    Put up the Christmas tree and decorate it!

    Tip: get the kids involved.

  • WEEK 6 DECEMBER 9TH

    Start thinking about your table setting and theme for Christmas Day.

    Write your guest list and confirm numbers.

    Write your meal plan for Christmas Day.

    Determine whether you have enough cutlery, plates, glasses, napkins, chairs and platters.

    Lighten the cooking load and allocate certain dishes to particular guests.

    Purchase your Bon-Bons.

    Get your kitchen (fridge and pantry) Christmas ready.

    Ensure you have enough containers for storing leftovers.

  • WEEK 7 DECEMBER 16TH

    Think about post-Christmas storage for your decorations, lights and kids Christmas craft.

    – Purchase any necessary tubs/containers for storage.

    Make/create or purchase and wrap any last minute gifts.

    Purchase beverages and dry goods in anticipation of Christmas Day.

    Tip: Cut up last year’s Christmas cards into little gift cards and pop them on this year’s presents – just make sure there’s no writing on the back!

  • Week 8

    Set the Christmas table.

    Fill the ice buckets, get the cheese platter ready, throw your summer salads together and enjoy a special (stress free) Christmas!
