Planning meal time for a full house

Christmas is filled with family, friends, entertaining and food-glorious-food but lets face it, with a household full of guests you’re not always going to want to be tied to the kitchen cooking meal after meal. So in the spirit of supreme organisation, we’re going to plan a few freezer-happy, healthy meals that you can cook and freeze now in anticipation of your guest’s arrival in a few weeks to come.

Did you know?

The ideal temperature for freezing most foods is between -15degreesC and -18degreesC

  • Freeze cooked food as soon as it’s cooled down; don’t refreeze food that’s been kept at room temperature for more than one or two hours!
  • Dairy products like milk, yoghurt and cream should not be frozen; they curdle when thawed.

  • Freezer markers or labels to identify what’s in each container and its use-by date.

It’s during this time of year the fridge is generally filled with delicious lunchtime platter friendly foods. And often enough, the weather is so warm, a simple salad is a perfect lunchtime option. Even on mass you can still keep it simple while enjoying fresh foods straight from the fridge. Here are a few easy-to-make-on-the-day LUNCH ideas.
